SHEY Marshes

Shey was the old capital of the upper Ladakh region. When the Dogras of Jammu invaded Ladakh in 1842, the Namgyals abandoned the palace and fled to Stok (they made it their permanent residence) on the opposite side of the Indus River. It is conjectured that the fort found in ruins, not dated, above the present palace at Shey, belonged to this period of invasion. Subsequently, when the political dictates necessitated shifting of the capital to Leh, even then the importance of Shey continued since it was a mandatory requirement of the Namgyal kings to father their heir apparent here.

Northern Lawing

Just 7 kms from Leh, famous for Shey Palace, this place is also well known with bird-watchers, because of the diversity and quality of birds in the various marshes that adorn the landscape here. Some of the birds seen here are; Black-billed Magpie, Reed Bunting, Mountain Chiffchaff, Hume’s Whitethroat, Carrion Crow, Eurasian Hobby, White-winged Redstart, Winter Wren, Ibisbill, Northern Lapwing, Common Rose finch, Black Redstart, Oriental Turtle Dove, Citrine & White Wagtail etc ….. and all should be in their breeding plumage.

วันนี้เรายังต้อง ปรับสภาพร่างกายอีกวันก่อนจะขึ้นที่สูง ลักปาจึงพาเรามาชมนกบนพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่อยู่ระหว่าง เชย์กับแม่น้ำสินธุ ซึ่งก็มีนกที่น่าสนใจเป็นการอุ่นเครื่องก่อนไปหานกหายากต่อไป

เราถึงจุดแรกประมาณ 6โมง ที่นี่เป็นลำธารเล็กๆมีพวกนกเด้าลมหลายตัวได้เจอแมมมอลตัวแรก เป็น Plateau Pika น่ารัก

จากนั้นก็วิ่งผ่านชุมชนคนมีฐานะแถวๆพระราชวังเก่าเพื่อออกสู่ชนบท

เมื่อเข้าสู่ชนบทของเมือง Chushot พวกเราก็เริ่มเดินเท้าเพื่อสำรวจนกรอบๆบริเวณ

Chushot Marshes

ผู้คนที่นี่เลี้ยงปศุสัตว์และเก็บเกี่ยวหมู่บ้าน หมู่บ้านแห่งนี้ตั้งอยู่ในลาดัก อยู่ภายใต้เขตเลห์ และอยู่ห่างจากเมืองหลักของเลห์ไปทางทิศใต้ 13 กม. หมู่บ้านนี้ล้อมรอบไปด้วยเทือกเขาโดยตัวหมู่บ้านตั้งอยู่บนฝั่งแม่น้ำสินธุที่มีชื่อเสียงทางประวัติศาสตร์ อีกด้านหนึ่งของหมู่บ้านห่างไกลจากริมฝั่งมีที่ดินแห้งแล้งอันกว้างใหญ่
กีฬาโปโลและยิงธนูเป็นกีฬาที่พบมากที่สุด หมู่บ้านแห่งนี้ปลูกพืชทะเล buckthorn ป่าจำนวนมาก ซึ่งเป็นที่รู้จักในด้านการบำบัด ต่อต้านสารก่อมะเร็ง ต่อต้านวัย ต้านเชื้อแบคทีเรีย และต้านการอักเสบ

ถึงจุดหนึ่งเราหยุดพักทานอาหารเช้ากันเป็นอาหารกล่อง ระหว่างทานอาหาร ลักปาก็เปิดเสียบเรียก Mountain Chiffchaff มาให้ถ่ายกันใกล้ๆน้องก็ตอบสนองเป็นอย่างดี และเมื่อบังเอิญมี commom rosefince สีแดงสดบินมาเกาะร้องเพลงอยู่บนกิ่งไม้โล่งๆพวกเราก็วางข้าวกล่องวิ่งไปตามถ่ายน้องกันก่อน

The mountain chiffchaff or eastern chiffchaff (Phylloscopus sindianus) is a species of leaf warbler found in the Caucasus (P. s. lorenzii) and Himalayas (P. s. sindianus), and is an altitudinal migrant, moving to lower levels in winter. The nominate subspecies is similar to the Siberian chiffchaff, but with a finer darker bill, browner upperparts and buff flanks; its song is almost identical to the common chiffchaff, but the call is a weak psew. P. s. lorenzii is warmer and darker brown than the nominate race; it is sympatric with common chiffchaff in a small area in the Western Caucasus, but interbreeding occurs rarely, if ever. 

Common rosefinch

Medium-sized, dumpy finch with a stubby bill. Male are distinctive with a red head, breast, and rump, brown eye-mask, and white belly. The amount of red varies with age. Females and juveniles are a rather unprepossessing, uniform brown inviting confusion with female House Sparrows; note the two pale wingbars. Breeds at both low and high elevations in deciduous scrub, meadows, and marsh edges as well as clearings in forest. Far-carrying, whistled, typically 3-note song is memorable.

The common rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus) or scarlet rosefinch is the most widespread and common rosefinch of Asia and Europe.

Libellula quadrimaculata, known in Europe as the four-spotted chaser and in North America as the four-spotted skimmer, is a dragonfly of the family Libellulidae found widely throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. This active dragonfly mainly lives by ponds, vernal pools, and slow flowing rivers; they are most common in June and July.

บริเวณที่เราพักทานอาหารเช้านี้จะเป็นสนามหญ้าโล่งๆมีลำธารเล็กๆอยู่ด้านซ้ายมือ ทำให้เราได้มีโอากาสเจอแมลงปอบ้านลายแลกตาบินอยู่ หลายตัว และยังได้เจอยักษ์เขียวอีก 2 ชนิด

The migrant hawker (Aeshna mixta) is one of the smaller species of hawker dragonflies. It can be found away from water but for breeding it prefers still or slow-flowing water and can tolerate brackish sites. The flight period is from July to the end of October. A. mixta occurs in North Africa, southern and central Europe to the Baltic region.

หลังอาหารเช้า พวกเราก็ลองไปเดินลุยในทุ่งนาที่ยังไม่ ปลูกข้าวก็ได้เจอนกเดิมๆ มีเพิ่มเติมคือนก Blue throated flycatcher

Mountain chiffchaff

The bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) is a small passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family Turdidae, but is now more generally considered to be an Old World flycatcher, Muscicapidae. It, and similar small European species, are often called chats. The bluethroat bird is similar in size to the European robin at 13–14 cm. It is plain brown above except for the distinctive black tail with red side patches. It has a strong white supercilium. Despite the distinctive appearance of the males, recent genetic studies show only limited variation between the forms, and confirm that this is a single species.Moults begins in July after breeding and are completed in 40–45 days, before the birds migrate.

และเมื่อบอยเห็นเหยี่ยวลงเกาะพื้นอยูไกลๆ หน่อยก็เดินหน้าลุยไม่กลัววัวในทุ่ง สุดท้ายได้ Eurasian Kestel มา1 ตัว

10โมงพวกเราเคลื่อนย้ายไปที่ริมฝั่งแม่น้ำสินธุ โดยจะใช้เส้นทางลัดตัดทุ่งไป แต่มีช่วงที่ถนนถูกปิดเพราะกำลังสร้างสะพาน คนขับรถก็พยายามหาทางลัดอื่นโดยรถต้องลุยลำธารข้ามไป แต่สุดท้ายก็ถึงทางตันเมื่อลำธารลึกเกินไป ตรงจุดที่จอดรถรอเพื่อหยั่งระดับน้ำว่าจะข้ามไปได้ไหม พวกเราก็ถือโอกาสเดินเล่นและได้เจอนกใหม่ 1ชนิด และแมลงปอใหม่อีก 3 ชนิด

แมลงปอเข็ม และจะเห็นคราบ อยู่ทางขวาอันนั้นเป็นคราบของแมลงปอยักษ์ น่าจะเป็นของตัวที่ อยู่ด้านล่าง

Ophiogomphus cecilia, the green snaketail, green gomphid,or green club-tailed dragonfly, is a species of dragonfly in the family Gomphidae.

Orthetrum brunneum, the southern skimmer, is a species of 'skimmers' belonging to the family Libellulidae.  This species mainly prefers small streams, canals and ditches, with shallow, fast warming water.

ดูเหมือนน้องจะคาบแมลงปอยักษ์ไปกินซะตัวนึงแล้ว บนท้องฟ้ามี Booted Eagle มาร่อนหาเหยื่อ อยู่1 รอบ ล้วบินลับไป เก็บภาพได้ไกลๆ

ในที่สุดก็ต้องหันรถกลับไปวิ่งทางหลักเพื่อไปยังเป้าหมาย

ที่ริมฝั่งแม่น้ำสินธุสักที่หนึ่ง ลักปาใช้ไบนอคสแกนหานอยู่นาน ในที่สุดอาจารย์บอย ก็ร้องบอกเจอแล้วๆหลังจากพยายามชี้เป้าเล็กๆอยู่นานพวกเราก็ได้ภาพนกเป้าหมายหลักของวันนี้ Ibisbill ที่สวยและหาดูยากยิ่งนัก

The ibisbill (Ibidorhyncha struthersii) is a bird related to the waders, but sufficiently distinctive to merit its own family Ibidorhynchidae. It is grey with a white belly, red legs and long down-curved bill, and a black face and black breast band. It occurs on the shingle riverbanks of the high plateau of central Asia and the Himalayas.

นกไอบิสบิล (Ibidorhyncha struthersii) เป็นนกที่มีความใกล้เคียงกับตระกูลนกลุยน้ำ แต่มีความโดดเด่นเพียงพอที่จะอยู่ในวงศ์ Ibidorhynchidae ของมันเอง มีสีเทา ท้องสีขาว ขาสีแดง และปากโค้งยาว หน้าสีดำ และแถบอกสีดำ มันเกิดขึ้นบนริมฝั่งแม่น้ำกรวดของที่ราบสูงของเอเชียกลางและเทือกเขาหิมาลัย

น้องสวยและหายากขนาดนี้ มาถึงที่แล้วแต่อยู่ไกลไปหน่อย น้องหน่อยผู้มุ่งมั่นวิ่งกลับขึ้นไปเอาบูทยาว มาเปลี่ยน เพื่อลุยน้ำไปยังเกาะกลางน้ำเพื่อจะได้เข้าใกล้มากขึ้น ปลัดปู ชูเกียรติ์ให้คนขับรถแบกข้าม  หมอต้อข้ามมายังไงไม่ทันมอง ส่วตัวฉันเปลี่ยนเป็นรองเท้าพองน้ำ เพื่อลุยข้ามน้ำแค่หัวเข่าแต่เชี่ยวกรากต้องใช้หนุ่มคนขับรถช่วยฉุดและขนสัมภาระให้ ทุกคนที่มาได้ภาพดีสมใจ ส่วนฉันได้แค่เห็นแต่หลังไวๆไม่ดีกว่าภาพที่ถ่ายจากฝั่งมากนัก

The ibisbill belongs to the order Charadriiformes which also includes the sandpipers, plovers, terns, auks, gulls, skuas and others. Although its evolutionary relationships are not fully understood, the ibisbill appears to be most closely related to a group including the oystercatchers, avocets, stilts and Pluvialis plovers, but sufficiently distinctive to merit its own family, Ibidorhynchidae.

ที่ริมฝั่งมี White-wagtail บินมาเกาะบนก้อนกรวดให้ถ่ายภาพใกล้ๆ 

ต่อจากนั้นลักปาก็พาเราข้ามไปยังสถานที่อีกที่ที่อยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามเผื่อจะได้วิว Ibisbillที่ใกล้ขึ้น

Choglamsar

Choglamsar, also spelt Chuglamsar, is a census town in the Leh district of Ladakh, India.It is located on the bank of the Indus River.

ชื่อเมืองนี้มีความหมายว่า "ที่ซึ่งเส้นทางเลี้ยว" (สู่เมืองเลห์) เมื่อถึงจุดนี้ ถนน (ทางหลวงเลห์-มะนาลี) จะออกจากหุบเขาสินธุนั่นเอง

สถานที่นี้เป็นสถานที่สำหรับพุทธศาสนิกชนมารวมตัวกันเพื่อประกอบพิธีทางศาสนาในวาระสำคัญต่างต่าง  องค์ดาไลลามะเคยมาแสดงธรรม ณ ศาลาสมาคมที่นี่ด้วยเช่นกัน   แต่วันนี้รถเข้าไม่ได้เราต้องจอดระและเดินผ่านสนามที่กว้างไกลแห่งนี้ แบบร้อนมากๆ ปรากฏว่าเดินไปถึงริมน้ำ ข้ามไปไม่ได้เพราะติดกำแพงหิน เลยต้องเดินดูนกอยู่แถวๆนั้นได้นกใหม่มา 1 ชนิด

ก่อนกลับลักปา พาพวกเราบางคนไปเดินทักสินาวัตรรอบเจดีย์เป็นศิรืมงคล 1 รอบ  ขากลับเราแวะร้านอาหารจีนในเมือง เพราะเริ่มเบื่อกับอาหารมัง มาหลายมื้อลักปาเลือกร้านที่คิดว่าน่าจะถูก ปากคนไทยที่สุด เข้าไปในร้านมีเมนูน่ากินเยอะมากๆ อาหารไทยก็มี แต่ขออภัยช่วงนี้เป็นวันหยุดสำคัญทางพุทธศานา งดอาหารประเภทเนื้อสัตว์ ทานเจไปก่อนน้า….สาธุ วันนี้ทัวร์จบแค่รอบเช้าบ่ายพักผ่อนร่างกายให้พร้อมก่อนขึ้นที่สูงตั้งแต่พรุ่งนี้ 2 ทุ่มนัดดินเนอร์และทำเช็คลิสต์ ผลประกอบการได้นกใหม่มา 21 ชนิด
